Bigger isn't always better
Union Berlin’s Stadion An der Alten Försterei is the beating heart of football nostalgia. It’s old-school, modest, and wonderfully intimate—a far cry from the massive modern arenas. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for with its electrifying atmosphere, powered by incredible local support. Union Berlin fans are fiercely passionate, proudly wearing their love for the club on their sleeves (and probably their scarves too). Beer flows freely, pretzels are enjoyed as a matchday staple, and sausages sizzle to perfection—because what’s football without the holy trinity of German matchday cuisine? The stadium feels more like a community gathering than a professional sporting event, with a warmth and camaraderie that’s hard to find elsewhere. Union Berlin proves that sometimes, smaller is better—offering football in its purest form, wrapped in tradition, passion, and, of course, a pretzel. 🍺🥨⚽
